Living at The Gables is more affordable than you might think…
People are often amazed to discover that living at The Gables is less expensive than they imagined. In fact, The Gables is one of the most affordable full-service retirement communities in all of Vermont. We are proud of our commitment to provide seniors with reasonably priced accommodations and services that will promote independence and support healthy living.
There are two financial components to living at The Gables: A one-time Entry Fee and an ongoing Monthly Fee.
Entry Fee
The Entry Fee a resident pays for an apartment is equivalent to the price one would pay to purchase a unit of that size and style in condominium fashion. The Entry Fee at The Gables ranges dependent on which unit is purchased with our unit choices being a one-bedroom unit to a deluxe two bedroom corner unit, with several options in between.
Payment of the Entry Fee entitles an individual or couple to use the apartment for as long as they reside at The Gables. When the resident vacates the apartment, whether by choice or due to health concerns, The Gables will refund the Entry Fee assigned during the closing process. Payment of this refund is made when a new resident moves into the apartment.
Monthly Fee
We make bill-paying easy! New residents are so pleased that just one check a month to The Gables covers almost all of the living expenses they were paying for separately in their previous home. Significant components of our Monthly Fee include:
- Property taxes on the apartment
- Dining services (19 meals a week)
- Weekly housekeeping
- All utilities (electricity, heat, water) excluding telephone
- Cable television (over 60 channels)
- Interior and exterior maintenance
- Wellness and fitness programs
- Social and cultural activities
- Transportation services to local destinations
- 24-hour emergency response
- Front desk services
- Priority admission status to our assisted living community The Meadows
- Access to on-site hair salon, workshop, exercise room, library, community gardens, walking trail, and more

Reservation Deposit
Those who ultimately decide to reside at The Gables are asked to place a $5,000 deposit to hold the apartment they have chosen. This deposit is applied to the Entry Fee when the resident moves to The Gables. It is our intent to make a move to The Gables as easy as possible.
